Accessing benefits and tax credits available to people with disabilities from the federal government often begins with applying for the Disability Tax Credit, or DTC. Approval for the DTC is a gateway to unlocking benefits like the Canada Disability Benefit and opening a Registered Disability Savings Plan or RDSP.

Applying for the DTC can feel complicated, especially when you’re not sure where to start. To help people access important federal benefits, the federal government is providing funding to disability organizations across Canada. These programs are free to access and offer personal, one-on-one support to people with disabilities, their families, and caregivers to apply for the DTC and other federal benefits.

Benefits navigators at these organizations can help you understand the benefits for which you may be eligible, guide you through the application process, and potentially connect you to other supports in your province or territory. Some organizations serve specific communities or regions, and may provide assistance in multiple languages and in ways that try to be accessible to everyone.

Below is a list of organizations providing support organized by where in Canada they can offer support. It’s a great place to start to find help to apply for the DTC and unlock other potential benefits for you or your family member. For the most accurate understanding of the services an organization provides, you can contact the organization directly.
